Thanks Andy
Spot on, the decoder socket PCB was not screwed down properly
all back together correctly now.

Hi. Assuming from the decoder types you state, that this will be a 6 pin model.
DCC23 decoders have been fitted to these previously. as the space is limited, could there be a wire in the way or is the PCB with the socket possibly a little misplaced (again, check for wires being in the wrong place). A CT Elektronik 6 pin decoder is the slimmest of all, but should not be necessary.

One more question
what's the recommended decoder for this loco
I tried a Gaugemaster DCC23, a Lenz Silver Mini Plus and a Zimo MX622 and with all of the the decoder hits the inside of the roof preventing it from going back on properly, what decoder is it designed to take?
thanks
Jeanette

Hi,
Its the same as the prototype, white lights only.
Reds were 'provided' by showing a red domino panel, we did the same as otherwise if numbers are fitted, then lighting that as red would not be correct. If you are running push-pull then two numbers are correct, Only when running light would prototypically have the red dominoes. (a lamp would also be added usually).

Does the Class 73 have red lights
Hi all
just checking my 73 has not got a fault
just got a Class 73 and on testing I noticed it had no red marker lights at either end, only white lights.
is this correct and no red lights are fitted or does it have a fault.
it's the Pullman Evening Argus Version if some did and some didn't
