  • 45ft Container Packs

Shall more 45ft (both curtain sided, standard 8'6 and high cube 9'6) containers be forthcoming, with the megafrets recently released and the IDAs coming soon. I am keen to have enough various Tesco containers and Russell to run my Tescoliners and Sainsliners.

I note that the Tesco 45ft's now work on DRS flows both as curtain sided and high cube.

I am right to think these are now manufactured in the UK to meet quicker release?

Yes, lots more containers are on the horizon. We are concentrating on standard and high cube containers at the moment but are working on the jigs and printing paraphernalia to allow us to print curtain sided versions too. We are working on a new release every month at the moment in N and OO so it may take a bit of time to get a decent portfolio of products, artwork generation takes so much time but the beauty is once it's done, re-releases and re-numbers are a doddle. Would love to know the versions that you would put top of the list.

      Hi

Sounds promising that UK manufacturing makes you very responsive and able to make a diverse range of liveries, quickly. Certainly sounds good if smaller batches, then from the artwork you can produce a wide range of container numbers, esp. Important for the Tescos with numbers on their roofs. Hopefully the tooling for the curtain sided is in the UK and trained on by the time the IDA wagons arrive for a Class 68 and IDA Tescoliner (odd I want to model the liner, but prefer Waitrose, Co-op or the market - other supermarkets available!)

Links from the fantastic The Humble Box - hopefully allowed to link?

      New Tesco (and Sobart):

As for a list of 45ft High Cubes at the top of the list, I would say Tesco/2XL, 2XL (both liveries), Russell, Unit 45 and Cobelfret are top priority to model the Daventry workings by DRS, DBC(s) and Freightliner.

Certainly shall keep you busy! And keep me a happy buying customer for a portfolio.

Ideal packs for the coming months would be:

2 x Russell 45 ft High Cube (As Russell containers seem to weather, the weather pack might also want a lighter blue as to make it look like it has faded)
        1 x Russell 45 ft & 1 x 2XL (older design) 45 ft High Cube
1 x 2XL (new design 'the best way to excel') & 1 x Tesco (2XL branded) 45 ft High Cube
1 x 2XL (new design 'the best way to excel') & 1 x Cobelfret 45 ft High Cube
        2 x Unit 45 45 ft High Cube

2 x Tesco (new design) Curtain Side 45 ft
1 x Tesco (new design) & 1 x Stobart (new design) Curtain Side 45 ft

Of course, there would also be choices of: Deanside, ASDA, Malcolm and Geest

These only really cover Daventry orientated internal intermodal workings mainly for the supermarkets. Using IKA and IDA wagons with DRS, FLHH and DBC traction.

Any chance of Russell 45, refrigerator containers seen on the FL Daventry-Coatbridge flow, as well on the refrig 45' category you have the Stobart London-Valencia chilled goods trains and those containers are seen at Daventry, any chance of them making an appearance

Would be super would it not to have 45ft reefer. But, the Russell operated ones are a different construction to the Stobart ones (does J Russell manufacturer containers in house?), which are Unit 45 Reefers with Thermo King SLXe diesel-electric refrigeration units (not to be mistaken with standard width marine reefers). Though yes the Russell ones have a Thermo King refrigeration unit I cannot tell me my life the type. Super if someone could let me know? I know the Stobart ones come in Unit 45 and European Containers liveries.

If Russell uses the Unit 45 Thermo King SLX reefer as well, then yes please can we have these as containers?

For now, I would settle with Russell 45 ft containers to run the Sainsbury-liner with Freightliner 70s and Dapol megafrets.

Agreed mate, would make an amazing addition to any WCML based layout

Hi All, very interesting topic will keep a close eye on this as I have my 68's and IDA wagons pre-ordered, some absolutely cracking
choices of container too. The unit 45 and 2XL boxes are very eye catching also very much like the Tesco and Stobart curtain sides which
I think with careful work could look very tasty.

Any more news on the container front, I will be ordering a fair few of the majority of the containers, only problem now is finding enough megafrets and associated wagons to haul these.

We should be starting making N and OO curtain siders soon and producing more wagons to work with them.

Absolutely, especially if you have photos showing details markings etc.

Cheers mate, Unfortunately I wont have pictures but I'm sure someone on the forum may be a help. They will need to be as I container pack only though, they run on the Bachmann style 45' containers. They are curtainside though... On that what liveries are you aiming to produce 45' curtain side wise, I think the big Stobart logo as well as the latest less co2 rail liveries will be welcomed by us as modellers

Question: apart from olivias trains, does anyone know where I can find the weathered megafrets with less co2 containers in 00 gauge?
